From Your Big Sisters Book

The educational book designed to break the shame and stigma around menstruation contains chapters such as know your body, period products, period poverty, period and culture and breaking period related myths. We have also included reflective activities and exercises to provoke conversation and reflection as we don’t wish to impose our point of view. Finally, we have crowdsourced stories from around the world in order to share the experiences of other folks out there. This project has allowed us to speak to many religious leaders and theologians to help contextualise how menstruation sits within their respective religions. We have also interviewed many period activists from around the world in order to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to fight back and support sustainable and accessible periods for all.

The web version of the book is available here: Red Cloud Project

Period Tracking Bracelet Workshop

We hosted a period tracking bracelet workshop at MenstrUAL Festival, a two-day event organised and ran by UAL's Post-grad community at Central Saint Martins. Read more about this event   here.

We were also featured in the Post-Grad Community’s blog. The article discussed the process of our project, such as collecting crowdsourced stories, reaching out to NGO and children to peer review the content and hosting a period tracking bracelet workshop.

Series of Period Positive Insta Filters

In continuation with our aims to tackle period poverty and stigma, we designed and built several period-related filters that can be used on Instagram. We aim for our users to share their experiences with menstruation on social media using our filters, as a way to open up the conversation around periods. The best way to tackle the taboo is to talk about it!

Try them out by visiting Ricebox Studio's Instagram page.

#MenstruationConversation

#MenstruationConversation is an ongoing campaign where we asked some friends to use our period-related Instagram AR filters to normalise talking about their periods openly on social media and fight the taboo. The hope is that this either encourages people to feel less ashamed
of a natural biological function as they relate to one another’s experience!

Visit Ricebox Studio's Instagram page as we release more of our friends’ testimonies!

The Red Cloud Project Launch Event

We had the opportunity to launch our period educational campaign, The Red Cloud Project! This online event was part of The Rights Studio Festival, a series of digital events to reimagine the narrative around children's rights, presented in collaboration with Child Rights International Network's Berlin-based creative extension, The Rights Studio.

You can watch the recording of the launch event below!

Irise International

Through the Red Cloud Project, we have encountered many exciting opportunities like taking part in Irise’s Empower Period podcast in May 2020. We discussed Menstruation in the Media and explored how menstruation is written about within religions. The podcast was hosted by Acushla Young and Dr Maria Tomlinson.

Additionally, we hosted a segment on Irise's One World Period event for Menstrual Hygiene Day (Thursday 28th May 2020). Using the content of the book, we shared about how menstruation is spoken about within different religions and demonstrated how the '5 WHY'S' exercise can be an effective way to find the root of an issue.
